The first step of the process: providing pertinent information

The first steps in Hair Restoration process are outlined below. When you sign up for the treatment process for extract therapy, you will be asked initially to complete a questionnaire. This questionnaire can either be filled out online or you can ask that the Haarklinikken clinic send you the form via postal mail. This is part of the preliminary examination.

Visiting to the Haarklinikken clinic: your first appointment and preliminary exam

Once you’ve filled out Haarklinikken’s questionnaire, you will visit the Haarklinikken clinic where a clinician will examine your hair and determine the amount of hair loss. An evaluation will include examining:

  • The condition of your scalp
  • Your hair type (fine, medium or thick)
  • The amount of hair (hair density)
  • The quality of the hair
  • The pattern of hair loss, if any

During this examination, the Haarklinikken clinician will also determine the amount of tallow that is produced by the scalp, scalp flexibility, and blood flow.

After the initial exam

After the exam, an extract will be formulated for your specific hair loss and hair care needs if you are a candidate. This formula will be given to you along with a shampoo, made to improve the condition of your scalp and hair. During this first visit, you will also be told about the length of time you can expect to undergo treatment. The therapy can last anywhere from a year to a year and a half.

Applying the extract

During the treatment program, you will continue to use the extract that was made especially for you in the Haarklinikken clinic. At first, you will be treating your scalp daily with the extract. The specially customized product will be applied in the evening and left in overnight. You will follow up in the morning by washing with one of Haarklinikken’s recommended shampoos. You may see  results in about 90 days.

The treatment format

The treatment regimen will gradually scale down as treatment continues. By the end of the program, you will be using the extract and shampoo on a weekly basis and scheduling an annual appointment for a check-up and adjustment. The length of the treatment will vary from one client to the next as each individual’s hair loss or thinning can differ significantly. In addition, the treatment time can be longer if the client does not consistently follow the plan.

The second appointment – a follow-up visit

After three months, you will meet with a clinician at Haarklinikken again.  This follow-up visit serves to monitor patient’s progress in the treatment process,, and check the condition of the scalp and hair. In addition, nutritional needs will be addressed during this follow-up visit. Dietary supplementation is often recommended – necessary for ameliorating specific disorders of the scalp or hair.

Treatment costs

Cost for hair loss treatment will average from $60 to $80 per month while treatments are being carried out daily or every other day. Thereafter, the cost will go down as treatment becomes more infrequent.

The length of the program – following a treatment schedule

Generally, you can expect the treatment process to last about a year and a half, outlined by a plan that includes the following:

  • Daily treatments – 3 to 4 months
  • Treatments every other day – 4 to 6 months
  • Treatments twice a week  – 6 months
  • Maintenance therapy – 1 or 2 times per week
